Chapter Member Expectations

• Maintenance of the highest scholastic average of which each individual is capable
• Social behavior that shows respect for oneself and for AOII
• Participation in chapter and campus life
• Courtesy and respect for others
• Working for the best interest of the chapter; learning to abide by the decisions of the majority; wholehearted cooperation for the welfare of the chapter
• Observation of all university and AOII regulations
• Cooperative participation in Panhellenic
• Good public relations with campus and community
• Loyalty to AOII and university
• Observation of all local, state, and federal laws

Violation of Rules

Philanthropy Rules
• No drinking during time of philanthropy rules
• Seniors are required to attend each event for at least 2 hours
o First offense: 30 day international probation and two additional hours of community service
o Second offense: 30 day international probation and two additional hours of community service

Initiation Rules
• No fraternity property/fraternity live outs for time given of initiation rules
• No drinking during time of initiation rules
o First offense: 30 day international probation with social probation
o Second offense: 60 day international probation with social probation
o Third offense: 90 day international probation with social probation
o Fourth offense: suspension of membership

Recruitment Rules
• Member must abide by all AOPII rules along with Panhellenic rules as long as Panhellenic rules are in effect:
• No fraternity property, including live outs
• No drinking for members, regardless of her age; including Bid Day
o First offense: 60 day international probation with social probation starting the first day of school
o Second offense: suspension of membership

Chapter Relations Handbook

Types of probation:

International Probation
• Member must attend all mandatory AOII functions
• Member must complete two additional community service hours
• Member is considered "not in good standing" and will not be allowed to vote or have a voice during chapter meetings
• Probation periods usually lasting 30, 60, or 90 days long

Social Probation
• Members may not attend any social functions planned by AOII (includes but does not limit to date dashes and exchanges)
• Member must attend all mandatory AOII functions
• Member must complete 2 additional community service hours
• Additional creative disciplines:
o volunteering with women's transit
o volunteering in the ER
o do a ride-along with a cop on a weekend
o Sober sister while on probation
o Workshops to inform the chapter

Academic Probation
• Member must attend all mandatory AOII functions
• Member is on social probation
• Member with a GPA below 2.5 is on 30 day probation, below a GPA of 2.0 is on semester probation

Man hours
• If a member violates the set man hours, then the following repercussions will be given:
o First offense: the member will receive a warning
o Second offense: man hour privileges will be revoked for one month
o Third offense: 30 day international probation with social probation, man hour privileges will be revoked for the entire probation period
o Fourth offense: 60 day international probation with social probation, man hour privileges will be revoked for the entire probation period
o Fifth offense: loss of man hours for remaining of the semester, if offense is at the end of the semester, it will continue into the following semester
• If a member has a man stay the night or break an excessive amount of man hours, the consequence will be worse

Procession of alcohol in the chapter house
• If a member stores or consumes alcohol in the chapter house, the first offense will resort in suspension of membership
• Room searches will be administered many times a semester by the Chapter President, Chapter Relations Chairman, House Manager, and a member of the Corporation Board

Possession of drugs in the chapter house or legally found breaking the law with possession of drugs
• Alpha Omicron Pi has a zero tolerance policy for illegal drugs, the first offense will result in suspension of membership

M.I.P & D.U.I
• M.I.P:
o First offense: Write a letter of reflection to the CR committee and attend an alcohol class/program through student service, social probation for 30 days or until alcohol class is completed (whichever is longer)
o Second offense: 60 day international probation with social probation
o Third offense: suspension of membership
• D.U.I:
o First offense: Write a letter of reflection to the CR committee and attend an alcohol class/program through student service, the member will be placed on a 90 day International Probation with Social Probation

Failure to complete house duty:
• First offense: a fine of $5 will be given
• Second offense: a fine of $5 will be given
• Third offense: a fine of $5 will be given
• Fourth offense: a fine of $5 will be given
• Fifth offense: a meeting will be held between the member in question, the CR committee, and the house manager
• Sixth offense: the member will be placed on 30 day social probation

Going on the roof:
• First offense: the member will meet with the CR committee to discuss the incident
• Second offense: the member will meet with the corporation board
• Third offense: suspension of membership

Giving out door codes:
• First offense: the member will have to pay the locksmith to come to the house and remove her door code. The member will be given a new door code
• Second offense: the member will have to pay to have the locksmith come to the house and remover he door code and she will NOT receive and new door code

Late Payment on Chapter Bills:
• One week late: Chapter Treasurer will meet with the member, they will have an opportunity to set up a payment plan, the chapter member must make three payments to be considered in good standing with the chapter, if the member does not stay current on the payment plan, the member will be placed on Social Probation
• 30 days late: Chapter Treasurer and CR committee will meet with the member and create a payment plan, the chapter member must make three payments to be considered in good standing with the chapter, if the member does not stay current on the payment plan, the member will be placed on Social Probation
• 60 days late: Chapter Treasurer and CR committee will meet with the member and create a payment plan, the member will be placed on international and social probation until half the amount owed is paid, once half of the amount owed is paid, the member will be considered in good standing
• 90 days late: Chapter Treasurer and CR committee will meet with the member and create a payment plan, the member will be placed on international and social probation until half the amount owed is paid, once half of the amount owed is paid, the member will be considered in good standing

Academics

Any member receiving a 2.0 GPA for one semester will be placed on academic probation through International Headquarters. Members on academic probation have neither voice nor vote during chapter meetings and may not go to any AOΠ sponsored events. Members who do not uphold the terms of their probation will have further consequences at the discretion of the Vice President of Standards Committee. All members assigned study table hours must be current on study table hours in order to attend an AOΠ sponsored events. Summer grades will not be used to determine study table hours; grades from spring will establish fall study tables. Members on the elected position falling below a 2.5 GPA at semester will resign from their position.

3.0 GPA or above……………………………0 hours
2.8 GPA to 2.99 GPA………………………..2 hr/week
2.5 GPA to 2.79 GPA………………………..4 hr/week
2.0 GPA to 2.49 GPA………………………..6 hr/week
1.99 GPA and below…………………………8 hr/week

Rules and Regulations

Formal/ Informal Recruitment Rules
A. Members must abide to all AOΠ rules along with Panhellenic rules as long as Panhellenic rules are in affect.
a. No Fraternity Property, including fraternity live outs.
b. No drinking members regardless of your age during recruitment in accordance to AOΠ internationals. This includes Bid Day.
c. No drinking for 21 year olds until 24 hours after Bid Day.
B. Work week rules will be voted on by the chapter.
C. Attire
a. Required attire will be decided on by the recruitment committee.
b. Should a member not be able to fund the appropriate attire, then exceptions will be determined by the VP of Standards and VPMR

Philanthropy Rules
A. No drinking 24 hours before, during, and after events.
B. Seniors participation will consist of staying for the entire time of one day of events.
C. Additional rules can be voted on by the chapter.

Initiation
A. No Fraternity Property/fraternity live outs 24 hours before and after events.
B. No drinking 24 hours before and after events.
C. Big Sis’ must sleep at the house during initiation.

Study Table Rules
A. Any member who is behind 15 hours or more will not be allowed to attend any non-mandatory events until they’re caught up within 5 hours of what is needed.

Live Outs

A. To attend all meetings and events where presence is deemed mandatory. It is the member’s responsibilities to stay informed of these events.
B. Pay all fees and dues on a regular basis and on time.
C. Remain in good academic standing or abide by conditions of the scholarship plan. This includes exceptions or changes by the VPAD/CR committee.
D. Uphold the standards, conduct and ideals of Alpha Omicron Pi as set forth by the chapter and international bylaws.
E. Can not host a Greek exchange without properly registering it through Greek Affairs.
F. Can not purchase bulk amounts of alcohol (i.e. kegs) with the intent of distributing it to persons under the age of 21.
**Failure to meet these conditions will result in membership probation and/ or additional penalties deemed necessary by the Vice President of Standards committee. Repeated offenses may result in suspension.

Fines

A. $100 for unexcused absence from each day of Recruitment, including membership selection committee members.
B. $75 for unexcused absence from each day of Work Week, including membership selection committee members.
C. $50 for unexcused absence from an initiation ceremony.
D. $75 for unexcused absence from an AOΠ philanthropic event and $25 for unexcused absence from outside philanthropic event. Excuses for missing an event will only be approved by both the Philanthropy chair and the President.
E. $50 for unexcused absence from a Recruitment workshop, including tardiness or leaving early.
F. $25 for unexcused absence from an Informal Recruitment party or Continuous Open Bid party.
G. $75 for unexcused absence, tardiness, or leaving early from Member Selection.
H. Each member is required to attend 4 programs throughout the entire school year. Not attending one will result in a portion of the Panhellenic fine. Each program each member misses results in that portion of the fine.
I. $10 for unexcused absence from mandatory events that have been voted on by the chapter.
J. $10 for parking in the back parking lot when not permitted.
K. $25 failure to do door duty.
L. $10 failure to wear proper ritual attire to ritual chapters or initiation.
M. $15 unexcused chapter meeting or LC meeting.
N. $5 unexcused absence house meeting
O. $75 for not passing the membership exam on the second try. If a member cannot pass on the second try, they will be unable to attend the first date function that follows until the exam is passed. Members can only be excused from taking the exam on the scheduled date if excuse is approved by the Vice President of Education and if the exam is taken prior to the scheduled date.
P. $2 failure to complete house chores.

Attendance

A. Attendance is required at all regular, ritual, special, philanthropy, program and recruitment meetings. Excessive absences will be taken to the Vice President of Standards. All excuses for events must be turned into the Recording Secretary by the following times:
1. Two days in advance for meetings and rituals.
2. Three days in advance for Leader’s Council and Cabinet.
3. One week in advance for Recruitment Workshops.
4. One week in advance for Philanthropic Events.
5. One week in advance for Initiation and Initiation Ceremonies.
6. One month in advance for Recruitment Events.
B. All of these excuses must be reviewed by the Vice President of Standards. If no excuse is turned in the member is subject to a fine that is stated in these bylaws.
C. Attendance at all chapter and house meetings is mandatory. The only excuses acceptable for missing the meetings shall be:
a. An unavoidable class schedule.
b. A test at the time of the meeting.
c. A help session with the professor at the time of the meeting.
d. Member own illness.
e. Death of a family member or loved one.
f. Work is inexcusable for LC meetings, AOΠ Philanthropy, initiation, recruitment workshops, chapter meetings, and recruitment.
Any excuse other than those listed above will be subject to the approval of the Vice President of Standards Committee.

Probation

A. Definition: Probation is defined as the denial for a definite, specified period of time, not less than one month nor longer than four consecutive months, of certain usual and customary rights and privileges of membership of the Fraternity, which shall be stated in the terms of probation. A member on probation remains on the Chapter roll and responsible for Annual Council Dues and her share of any capita fees assessed to the Chapter.
B. Reasons for Probation: A collegiate member may be placed on probation as hereinafter provided for any of the following reasons:
a. Violation of the Fraternity Constitution, Bylaws, and Standing Rules or Book of Policies.
b. Conduct which renders a member’s presence in her Chapter detrimental to the harmony, standing, and best interests of the Chapter and the Fraternity.
c. Obvious and persistent refusal to cooperate with the Chapter.
d. Failure to meet chapter, lease, or fraternal financial obligations.
e. Financial inability.
f. Failure to live in Chapter housing when required.
g. Failure to perform her duties of office.
h. Failure to achieve a 2.0 GPA for one semester and/or cumulatively.
i. Any action or omission, which may jeopardize the health, safety, or welfare of any other member(s).
C. Probation Methods: Probation may be provided in one of two ways:
a. The Chapter has the authority to place an initiated or affiliated member on probation by a two-thirds vote of the Chapter members present and eligible to vote at a regularly scheduled Chapter meeting, with the approval of a majority of the Alumnae Advisory Committee, for any reason listed above. The probation under this subsection shall become effective upon approval of the Alumnae Advisory Committee.
b. The Alumnae Advisory Committee shall have the power to place a member of the collegiate Chapter on probation by a two-thirds vote. The probation under this subsection shall become effective upon approval by the Chapter Network Specialist assigned to this chapter.
c. If suspended member resides in the AOΠ living quarters, she will have 24 hours to leave the premises. An escort will be appointed.
D. Upon arrival of the probation, the Chapter Advisor shall, within ten days of said approval, send a notice containing the terms of probation, the conditions and length of probation and the member’s right to appeal by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the member concerning whom such action is taken. Copies shall be sent by First Class Mail to the Chapter President, the Chapter Network Specialist, and the International Headquarters.
E. Appeal: Within 14 days of receipt of the notice of probation, the member may appeal the decision of the terms of probation. She shall notify the Chapter Network Specialist and two additional specialist from other Networks mutually assigned to that chapter. The notice of appeal shall contain the reasons why the probation should be rejected of its terms modified. If an appeal is not received within 14 days, the appeal is in default and the probation stands. Notice in writing of the decision of the body hearing the appeal shall be sent within 14 days of the receipt on probation. The Chapter Network Specialist shall be responsible for sending notice of the decision to the member with copies by first class mail to the Chapter President, the Chapter Advisor, the Chapter Network Director and the International Headquarters. The decision of the body hearing the appeal is final.
F. Extension: At least 14 days prior to the scheduled termination of a probation, the probating body shall review the member’s situation and determine whether to extend the probation or allow it to terminate. Decisions to extend a probation shall be subject to the same procedure as the original decision to probate. Notice of the extension of probation shall be sent to the member and the Chapter Network Specialist by certified mail, return receipt requested, by the probating body, with copies by first class mail to the Chapter President, Chapter Advisor, and the International Headquarters. The member may appeal the extension of probation within 14 days of receipt of the notice of extension. She shall notify the Chapter Network Specialist by certified mail, return receipt requested, of her decision to appeal. The appeal shall be heard by the Chapter Network Specialist and two additional Specialists from other Networks mutually assigned to that Chapter. All notices referred to in this section shall be effective on mailing.
G. Termination: Probation shall not extend beyond withdrawal or graduation from the college or university. Probation may be terminated automatically by a successful appeal or by satisfaction of their terms of probation by the member during the probation period.

The object of this chapter shall be to encourage a spirit of fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interests of Washington State University; and in no way disregard, injure, or sacrifice those interest for the sake of prestige or advancement of the fraternity or any of its members.
